Asus V7100/2V1D GeForce2 MX TwinView
When it comes to 2D graphics quality the Matrox G450 is the card to beat right now. But when it comes to 3D performance the Matrox starts gasping for air.
Matrox cards are well known world over for excellent 2D image quality where as Nvidia is struggling to get the flag up. In super-high resolutions, the Matrox G450 looked noticeably clearer than the GeForce2 MX, and the same goes higher resolutions in multi-monitor mode.
The Asus V7100/2V1D is the only card we have right now with the GF2 MX TwinView incorporated, so a neck-to-neck comparison with another MX was not possible. But Guillemot will have a similar card on the shelves soon & we’ll hopefully have a card of the same league for comparison purpose. The TwinView cards were very late to come into the market and the Matrox G450 has all & even more features over the Asus. But the Asus card provides 2,3 times 3D gaming performance than the Matrox card.
Though the TwinView feature is in somewhat of an infancy stage right now when compared to DualHead, the 3D performance of this card is way above the Matrox G450. More multi-monitor specific features & a matured TwinView technology alone can be helpful in getting Nvidia back into the Business markets as well. finally, let’s keep our fingers crossed ,for TwinView support on the ‘NV20’!!
Pros:
* Good 3D performance
* Easy to use TwinView Feature
Cons:
* Matrox’s DualHead Technology is miles ahead of TwinView
