OCZ 2GB DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire Certified Edition

Without making any voltage increments the most stable setting we achieved was 1200MHz. We did reach 1300MHz with some tweaking of the memory voltages however this wasn’t 100% stable for us probably due to inadequate cooling. We were able to have a few hours of game play at this setting, yet occasionally the system would hang. I’m sure these modules can handle this high setting and we will update the review soon as we test them on a more efficient cooling platform. Voltage was increased to 2.35V which is the maximum recommended by OCZ, but if you’re bold enough you could try going slightly higher which might give you more stability at 1300MHz.

As expected OCZ has yet again delivered well above expectation to the enthusiast market. The REAPER PC2-8500 HPC CrossFire Certified modules seem to have been hand picked for extreme stability and performance. With modest memory timings of 5-5-5-15 one wouldn’t expect to see the results we have achieved here, yet these modules seems to have defied the norm.

As far as how effective the heat pipe technology is, we aren’t 100% sure as to how effective they are with or without them, nevertheless as we mentioned before anything extra to give an overclocker an edge is always welcome. The REAPER series has received much praise since its introduction over a year ago, and with their new release of the CrossFire Certified modules enthusiast have the added benefit that they’re getting the best and with a price tag of around US$149.99 it’s a bargain. Overall this is an exceptionally good product and without doubt comes with a high recommendation from us.
