TDK Tremor S-150 Speaker System
Cool sound
What can I say other than I was absolutely impressed by the way the Tremor S-150 performs. Never did I ever imagine these speakers would sound so good. Looks certainly are very deceiving. Even the midget looking satellites sound so incredibly good. It’s awesome. TDK is really promoting their tremor series by highlighting the fact that these speakers utilize NXT’s breakthrough SurfaceSound™ technology. What’s all this hype about? Well this new technology gives the speaker system an amazingly large sweet spot. What this means is that no matter where you are in the room, the Tremor system will sound great. Usually best seat in the house would be the one directly facing the speaker system, since the sound travels directly in which it’s pointed at.
However what’s so great about this technology is that you needn’t be seated directly in front of your speakers to enjoy the best sound quality. You can be anywhere in the room and still get the same effect. This is what they mean by a very large sweet spot.
And the best part is this really works. You can walk around the room and still enjoy the same quality of music as when standing next to them. The satellites function exceptionally well, totally deceiving its outer characteristics. The trebles, and mid ranges sound very good. Perfect high pitch and solid midranges. The trebles in particular are exceptionally good in this system, and I mean really good.
As for the sub, it certainly does give out a major thumping. However I couldn’t help feeling the fact that it lacked the exact power I needed. I personally prefer earth shattering bass, and a 75RMS sub is not exactly what I would be looking for. However considering its size and power, it sure does a very good job. Now don’t mistake me by thinking the bass is awful, as it’s quite the contrary. The only fact is that it won’t have the power to blow your brains out :. Best of all the music does not distort at all even after you ramp up the volume to the max. Considering that all this is only by a mere 2″ driver, it’s very impressive indeed.
Final thoughts
Overall the Tremor S-150 is a splendid speaker system. I really enjoyed testing it, and I’m sure many users out there will enjoy it as much as I did. However a word of advice, if you’re an audio freak and want some major power under your system, well sadly this is not the one for you. The speakers sound great up to a certain point, however if you want to go beyond that, the S-150 does not allow you to. If you’re a person not looking for extreme performance then by all means this is one of the best buys out there. Furthermore it’s very competitively priced ($129), which gives you more reason to go for it. If you still haven’t upgraded from those miserable tiny desktop speakers here’s your chance for a major upgrade. Furthermore might I add the fact that this would make an ideal gift to your loved ones.
