GALAX have kept things simple with a no frills box design but giving users the most needed information.

There’s also a user manual, driver CD, and a 6-pin molex connector. Not the flashiest bundle to talk about nevertheless it covers the basics.

The GALAX GeForce GTX 1060 OC 6GB

The card itself stands at around 9 inches long and 5 inches wide. The size of it would allow you to fit it without issue even on Cube type HTPC casings. The card features dual 80mm PWM controlled cooling fans which is fitted onto an aluminum heatsink. Two 6mm heat pipes connected to the base heatsink helps to dissipate the hot air generated by the GPU. Overall it looks a solid design and we’ll see in our tests how effective it is. If you wish to add a water cooled GPU cooler, simply release the cooler using the spring loaded screws found on the rear of the PCB.

The PCB has an overall black matte finish making it blend well with the overall components of the case.

Memory Clock

The GALAX GeForce GTX 1060 OC comes with 6GB of GDDR5 memory with 192 GB/s memory BUS boasting a base clock speed of 1518Mhz and a Boost rate of 1733MHz. The memory clock is set at the default 8008MHz.

Going to the front of the unit the GALAX GTX 1060 OC features 3 display outputs. In theory the fact that there are no ports on the top layer would mean the card has more room to expel air through the vents. The card includes a DVI Port, HDMI 2.0b port and a DisplayPort. While having a variety of ports is a good thing, for multi display setups you’ll need to ensure the display can support at least 2 of these port types. I wish there was another HDMI port or a DVI to HDMI adapter included to satisfy multi display requirements better.

In spite of minor shortcomings, the overall design of the card looks good. Lets see how well the GALAX GTX 1060 OC performs in our real life tests.
