Gelid Zentree Smart Docking Station for iPhones and other smart devices
Performance
The Zentree is fully compatible to the latest USB charging standards. It is capable of a charging current output of 2.4A per USB port and a total power output of 48W. The noteworthy feature of the Zentree on top of this is its smart IC chip. It’s capable of intelligently detecting and sending the desired charge to each connected device and shutdown the power once fully charged.
Battery fatigue
This is one of the key reasons for phone batteries to under perform. Battery fatigue is a very common occurrence since a lot of us are used to charging our phones overnight and even though fully charged the current continues to be supplied to the phone until you remove it from the charger; thus putting a strain on the battery. Overtime this creates fatigue on the battery reducing its life. The Zentree’s smart IC chip could be the solution to this common problem for us all.
Charging
What better way to test the performance of the Zentree than hooking up multiple devices to it and timing the charging time. One thing to keep in mind is that some devices will not work on the Zentree. You can’t fault the Zentree for this as certain manufactures require the proprietary charging device to work. For our testing we used the following devices:
- Samsung Galaxy S7
- Asus Transformer TF300
- iPhone 6S
- Samsung Galaxy J7
Test Scores
First the devices were timed to see how long it took for a full charge using the manufacture supplied chargers. Next the process was repeated using the Zentree. Theoretically the Zentree should perform better due to its greater output than the proprietary chargers, nevertheless lets see how the results. To ensure the results are kept standard we only use the original charging cables and not the ones provided with the Zentree.
Well the scores are certainly interesting. While the Zentree doesn’t beat the original chargers, the charging times aren’t that bad by any means. Mind you, the scores given for the Zentree are while charging all 4 devices simultaneously and not individually. This is certainly a true testament to the superior build quality of the Zentree.
