This latest development by Matrox, functionality wise is similar to a conventional internal Dual head video card in terms of getting dual displays, yet that’s where the similarity ends. The DualHead2Go is an external solution which is powered by USB. It’s mainly aimed at mobile users who’d want to have this great feature on their laptops with great ease; however any PC user can use it as well. Some of the main drawbacks of the conventional Windows dual monitor setups are that many applications like games are not aware of multiple monitors so even though you have the hardware, there was still a software limitation. Furthermore even though your work space increased with two or monitors, in Windows you were still restricted to a single task bar which still eventually cramped up your environment. Taking these limitations into consideration, Matrox has come up with this unique solution.
We’ll go through in more detail on how the unit works but first here are the specs for the Dual Head 2 GO given by the manufacture.
