SOYO KT333 Dragon Ultra Motherboard

Overclocking:

As mentioned in the BIOS section the board offers a range of overclocking options. FSB adjustments up to 255Mhz in 1MHz increments, Vcore adjustments, DRAM timing and many more. We decided to try our hands at overclocking this board, so on we went to the BIOS to set things up. The Athlon XP 1800+ processor works at a setting of 11.5 x 133MHz which equates to 1500MHz or so. We did not try unlocking the CPU so it was only FSB overclocking and we did manage to go upto 160Mhz giving a speed of 1840MHz. I must say that’s quite decent indeed. We did try going beyond this point, however it resulted in the USB controller malfunctioning. This was a problem with the Dragon plus as well, and I hope SOYO looks into this matter in future releases. Overall however the overclocking ability and overclocking features are wonderful.
Conclusion

It goes unsaid that the SOYO dragon plus is quite an exceptional board. The board comes loaded with features and accessories, and it’s a good overclocker as well. What more could you really ask for. Just to recap on the features the Dragon Ultra offers, ATA133 support, RAID, onboard Realtek 10/100 LAN, onboard 6-channel audio, USB 2.0 are just some of them. Moreover, SOYO also offers a decent software bundle as well which gives greater value for this package.

At a price of around US$150 the Dragon Ultra isn’t the cheapest boards around since there are many other KT333 boards out there which are considerably cheaper. However what we must consider is the total package SOYO offers with this board, it’s unparallel to any of it’s competition and I must say, this justifies the cost by far. If you’re looking for a board that offers a ton of cool features and great performance at the same time, the SOYO KT333 Dragon Ultra would be the ideal choice to go for. Once again a job well done by SOYO.
