A 2MP camera compliments the front for quick selfies.

Looking to the rear of the phone, a 5MP camera captures those important moments without loosing too much detail. The SIM 1 slot is a micro SD slot while SIM2 offers a standard sized SIM card slot. The phone weighs in at a mere 150g and most of that weight comes from the battery.

Performance & Conclusion

The Aspera Jazz 2 is driven by Android Go operating system which is a scaled down version of Android designed to work better on lower end hardware. You still get Google Playstore which allows you to download regular android apps as needed along with apps specifically designed for Android Go.

In terms of daily usage, the Aspera Jazz 2 provides a decent experience, however don’t expect fast response times. Key presses do lag slightly and typing does require getting used to. Given the price tag of $99 the Jazz 2 obviously isn’t for any main stream users. You’d most likely get one of these for your kids or an older relative.

There are other competing products in the market that does offer better hardware specs in this price range. However the advantage the Aspera Jazz 2 has is that it’s not network locked and also offers dual sim functionality which is generally not seen on phones in this budget.

The screen resolution isn’t anything fancy however does the job which is what you’d expect from a phone in this budget. The camera picture quality isn’t something you’d brag to your friends about but if this is your first smart phone I’m sure you’ll be thrilled.

For an absolute budget smart phone, the Aspera Jazz 2 does offer some decent functionality with front and rear cameras, dual sim, Micro SD card slot and a decent 1900mAh battery. If you don’t want to be constrained by network locks from competing products, the Aspera Jazz 2 most certainly will meet your needs.
