Lighting and RGB Software

HyperX uses NGenuity software to customize the lighting profiles for the keyboard. It’s not the most intuitive software we have used, however it’s not the worst either. The software is downloadable freely from HyperX’s website. Once installed it auto detected our keyboard and proceeded to perform a flash update.

The RGB effects of the keyboard are pretty impressive. The glow under the keycaps makes the illumination effects even prettier.

Setting your own profile

One issue we initially couldn’t figure out was why the RGB profile we set through the NGenuity software would reset itself to default at every reboot of the PC. After some fiddling around we realized that any customized profile needs to be dragged into one of the 3 slots as highlighted in the image below so that it would pickup the customized profile during the next boot.

You can setup the usual macros, key assignments etc via the software and getting these done was relatively straight forward. You can also download popular user profiles and import into the keyboard as well as choose profiles to specific games. This kind of software kit is pretty standard these days across most manufacturers and main discrepancy is between how intuitive they are to use.

Game mode allows you to disable the Windows key and you can opt to disable additional keys if you desire.

Various lighting effects are provided by default, however they aren’t as extensive as what Logitech or Razer offers. Nevertheless whats on offer is quite decent.
