DLink DCS-4605EV Performance and Conclusion
Unlike the DCS-4705E, with the DCS-4605EV we didn’t have any issues with recording at the highest 8Mbps setting at 15FPS. The 2.8mm camera does capture a large area and one thing we would have preferred is a tinted window for the dome. This would completely hide the direction in which the camera is pointing at.
As we can see the day time picture quality is impressive and the 5MP camera certainly does its part. Night vision could improve slightly, however it’s quite adequate. The camera supports H.265 compression technology giving you the best quality images at the lowest storage cost as possible.
The camera supports ONVIF standard and POE capable. This means you can easily interface the camera with a commercial grade NVR that supports these technologies. Out of the box a decent quality NVR supports these standards, hence you wouldn’t have any issues in getting the camera running smoothly.
All our tests were done through the provided D-ViewCam software by D-Link. However we also connected the DCS-4605EV to a Duhua branded NVR and it worked flawlessly.
Conclusion
D-Link’s Vigilance product range has lived upto the brand name D-Link have built up over the years. With ONVIF and POE support, installing the DCS-4605EV is a breeze for any environment. Just be mindful that D-Link do not provide its own power supply with these cameras as they expect everyone to be using POE as part of the installation.
We didn’t encounter any performance issues during our testing and the image quality is quite impressive. D-Link offer the DCS-4605EV at AU$459.95 which is on the higher side of the market. End of the day however, the DLink DCS-4605EV does what it was designed for and does it well. If you’re in the market for new surveillance cameras do give them a try as they certainly won’t fail you and you have an industry leader backing the product with a lifetime warranty.
