Gigabyte Aorus M4 Gaming Mouse
If you’re a leftie only you’ll know how much more the world is unfiair in contrast to your right handed siblings. Most gaming peripherals out in the market seem to cater to the vast majority while ignoring the minority and leaving them to fend for themselves. The Gigabyte Aorus M4 gaming mouse we’re looking at today has an ambidextrous design catering to both these spectrums.
Compared to the Aorus M5 we reviewed recently the Aorus M4 comes equipped with a older Pixart 3988 optical sensor. While there are similarities between the two designs, main elements of change are due to the differences related to the optical sensor. Here’s a quick comparison between these two models.
The Aorus M4 sits below Gigabyte’s flagship Aorus mouse, which is the Aorus M5. Lets take a closer look at the Aorus M4 design and see how it plays out in real world gaming scenarios.
The Aorus M4 design
All Gigabyte Aorus products generally are offered in flashy packaging and the Aorus M4 is no exception. The product features are clearly emphasized on the packaging. One of the main highlights is RGB Fusion 2.0. This allows you to synchronize the M4 with any other Aorus device.
Ambidextrous design
The ambidextrous design of the Aorus M4 means that both sides of the are fully symmetrical to suit right and left-handed players. The mouse is perfectly weight balanced, ergonomically shaped and has 2 pairs of side buttons creating a perfect blend for left and right handed users.
6400 dpi Pixart 3988 optical sensor
The M4 boasts an enthusiast-grade 6400 dpi Pixart 3988 optical sensor. This type of sensor is capable of 200 ips and 50G acceleration for accurate movement within your gameplay. The dpi setting can be adjusted in 50 dpi increments. This in turn gives you greater flexibility to tune your mouse to your desired gaming style.
Japanese Omron switches
Just like the M5, the M4 features Japanese Omron switches on both buttons which provide smooth precise responses. The switches offer a guaranteed lifetime of 50 million clicks. This roughly depending on usage can wary from 10 years to 30 years. Bottom line is, the switches will last you long enough even in the extreme of instances.
RGB Lighting
You can’t have a Gigabyte Aorus device without any RGB lighting. That’s like making tea without tea leaves. The scroll wheel and the familiar Aorus falcon logo are RGB capable. Using the RGB Fusion software you can customize the colors within a 16.7 Million color pallet or synchronize with other AORUS devices.
Programmable Switches
Using the Aorus Engine you are able to program each button on the mouse. You get two extra keys to customize from its ambidextrous design giving you more options during gameplay.
Conclusion
A good mouse will represent how well you perform and get the most head shots during FPS gaming. Be it sniper fire or machine gun fire, precise feedback from the mouse is paramount. The Aorus M4 performed without issue for us during all our gameplay scenarios.
Thanks to the Omron switches the key presses were precise and accurate. With programmable macros you can also define combinations to give you that edge from anyone using a standard mouse.
We were unable to find exact retail price for the Aorus M4 however given that the M5 retails around AU$79.95 and the M3 retailing around AU$40, the M4 should be within middle ground of around the AU$50-60 mark. This makes it an ideal mid level gaming mouse for enthusiasts and offers suitable compromise from their top tier gaming mouse.
