Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD Gaming Monitor
Performance and Conclusion
Depending on the type of graphics card you should setup FreeSync or G-Sync before moving ahead with any kind of game play with the Aorus AD27QD.
A wide selection of on screen menu options offered. The joystick has offers quick menu options as well where you can select Picture Modes, Display Input, volume control for headset and Black equalizer.
There are some notable features which the gamer in you will truly welcome. The Game Assist feature allows you to overlay customisable cross-hairs on the display. That’s a pretty neat feature for FPS games and certainly improve your kill shot accuracy.
On screen display
The Aorus AD27QD even allows you to over DPI, CPU Temperature and Frequency, GPU Temperature, Fan speeds etc. This is quite handy to have during game play and since it’s not directly linked to the GPU, the information will be visible throughout gaming sessions.
Picture In Picture (PIP) and Picture By Picture(PBP) modes are available if you got multiple video inputs. PIP puts the second input source in a corner of the screen while PBP splits the screen in half to show the video sources.
SideKick
No this is not the name of a new movie but Gigabytes software that allows you to control the monitor settings directly from an app. This is not a new feature to modern day monitors, however we must admit this is one of the best implementations of it we have come across so far which has been error free for us during our testing. Make sure you got the USB cable connected to the upstream USB port on the monitor and back to your PC to make use of this function. The software is freely downloadable from website here.
Built-in Audio
Connecting your headphone and mic to the monitor allows you to take advantage of the built-in USB Codec with active noise cancellation technology. Ideal for gamers looking to cancel out any background noise during gameplay giving you and your team mates the best experience.
Final Thoughts
There’s hardly nothing to not like with the Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD apart from it’s somewhat hefty price tag. It’s no doubt a luxury spending almost a grand for a monitor alone, however you certainly are getting a lot for your dollar.
There’s no doubt the picture quality offered by the Aorus AD27QD is simply amazing for an IPS panel and for users who are coming from lower resolutions will certainly appreciate the clarity and detail offered in QHD/ 1440p resolution.
The RGB features will certainly fancy those users who already have an Aorus mainboard. However our only reservation with RGB lighting on monitors is that if your monitor faces the wall like most of ours do, you’ll simply have to rely on the wall reflection to view the beauty of the colors.
The build quality is excellent and the alloy core stand was certainly very sturdy and strong. We loved the great ergonomics the monitor offered with its multitude of movements. Not many monitors out there offers this level of flexibility.
Some of the key highlights for us with the Aorus AD27QD is it’s 144Mhz refresh rate with 1ms response time, G-Sync/FreeSync and the plethora of other useful features for gamers. While the Aorus AD27QD won’t replace a high-end monitor used by professional graphic artists, it sits somewhere in between. Hence if you wanted a mix of both professional and gaming experience blended into the single monitor, the Aorus AD27QD will certainly give a run for its money.
