Raijintek ORCUS 280 RBW AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
The Orcus 280 RBW in-depth look
Raijintek offers the Orcus RBW in a variety of options, to meet varying budgets and requirements. In fact there are 5 varients on offer as listed below.
You generally under estimate how big these coolers are until you actually get hold of the retail box. The retail box the Orcus 280 RBW comes in offers a detailed view of the product as well as its features.
Opening up the box you’re offered with a wide list of accessories for mounting the cooler onto Intel or AMD platforms, 2 x 140mm PWM RGB capable fans, controller box, remote and something not usually seen in these packages Raijintek even includes an extra coolent bottle.
The Radiator and Pump design
The 280mm radiator design is pretty similar to every other closed loop cooler systems however Raijintek have decided to feature a bleed screw into it. So if you ever wanted to flush the system out, you could, however it kind of contradictory to the whole meaning of a close loop system which is supposed to be sealed.
The pump has been placed on the tubing itself instead residing inside the CPU block. Raijintek claim the reason for doing this is to reduce vibrations and extra stress on the motherboard. Even if it won’t make a huge impact, kudos to Raijintek for their innovation. Only downside to this is you now have to cable manage 2 instead of 1.
The CPU block is RGB capable and includes a flow meter to give users a visual inspection that there’s actual coolent flowing through the system. This is actually a good idea as it gives us the ability to spot potential problems before it becomes a serious issue. When the system is turned on, the flow meter will start to turn soon as coolant starts to flow through.
The base of the cooler block is made of nicle plated copper and has a very smooth finish to ensure good contact with the CPU die.
2 x 140mm PMW fans are included with the Orcus 280 RBW which are also RGB capable. The fans are capable of producing 65.19 CFM each and have a RPM range of 400~1500. The 11 blade fan design also includes anti vibration rubbers on either side of their mounting points to reduce vibration & noise throughout the system.
Alright time to install this baby into a test rig.
