Closer look at the package

Just like to Aorus M5 we reviewed recently the Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1660 GAMING OC 6G also comes with RGB features controlled through the RGB Fusion 2 software. This means that if you got other Aorus products they can simply be synchronized to work together with the video card.

The outer box highlights some of the key features of the Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1660 GAMING OC 6G such as RGB Fusion 2.0, Windforce, Turing Shaders etc. The graphic at the top of the box reminds us of the sword of Heimdall, the Gatekeeper of Asgard. If you’re a fan you’ll know what I mean.

Going to the rear section of the box, some of the key features are further explained in detail. Gigabyte’s Windforce technology features 3 x 80mm fans that alternate in their spinning direction, which Gigabyte says provides more airflow and faster heat dissipation. 3 x pure copper heatpipes that come in direct contact with the GPU gives that extra boost to keep things cool when you’re fully engrossed in your gameplay. RGB Fusion 2.0 and the fully covered backplate are also mentioned in greater detail for users to get a good feel of the product before purchasing.

Opening the box, you’re offered with a quick start guide, software CD and the Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1660 GAMING OC 6G card itself. The design of the Gigabyte GeForce® GTX 1660 is almost identical to each other, with some models having a 2 fan design as opposed to a 3 fan design. Gigabyte haven’t made this card as flashy as some might like it to be, however we prefer it this way as you get the option to go over the top if you wanted to.

You can clearly see the 3 copper heatpipes running through the cooler setup of the card and if you look closely you’ll notice that the heatsinks go beyond the PCB of the card. You don’t even notice this is the case as the whole setup is nicely enclosed together via the backplate and the top cover. The full length backplate also provides extra strength to the card and makes handling it lot easier too.

You can also see the Windforce design where the center fan has been designed to turn in the opposite direction to provide for maximum airflow through the cooling system.

On the side you’ll notice the 8 pin power connector and RGB Gigabyte logo.
