Introduction
A month or so ago we looked at iStorage’s DATASHUR PRO 8GB USB 3.0 Hardware encrypted flash drive. At the time we were extremely impressed by the level of security and performance the device offered. Today we bring to you one if their latest offerings the iStorage diskAshur2. It differs from the DATASHUR Pro as it’s a portable hard drive but accompanies the same military grade AES 256-bit XTS hardware encryption and PIN authentication mechanism to lock/unlock the drive.
In a day and age when most enterprise level organisations are shying away from portable storage devices due to their inherent security risks, it’s nice to see iStorage trying to penetrate this market with these types of security enhanced devices. We’re aligning this product towards the enterprise grade businesses as I don’t see a huge market for them in the personal storage market. Why would you need military grade encryption when most of your portable storage will be movies and songs? iStorage certainly isn’t a new comer to the hardware encrypted security storage market so you can be assured of the reliability and security standards that are offered on their products.
iStorage makes a bold statement with their diskAshur2 by calling it the “the most secure hard drive ever made“. Lets find out as we put the diskAshur2 through its paces and see if it can actually walk the talk. Today we’ll be looking at the diskAshur2 1TB model.
