Raijintek THEMIS Evo CPU Cooler Review
Raijintek: THEMIS Evo in Detail
The THEMIS Evo is packaged in a very elegant box and as with their other products the packaging offers good detail of the cooler.
Opening up the box you’re greeted with 1 x 120mm PMW controlled fan, universal backplate, as accessory kit with nuts and bolts, thermal paste, installation manual and of course the THEMIS Evo. The cooler supports All Socket LGA 775/115x/1366/201x CPUs (Coreā¢ i3 / i5 / i7 CPU) as well as All FM2+/FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2 CPUs.
The THEMIS Evo has a pretty radical look for a CPU cooler with its spiky cut-outs on both sides. The THEMIS Evo towers at a height of 16.5cm(165mm) making it almost as tall as the Raijintek TISIS. 4 large copper 8mm heat pipes distributes the heat of the cooler evenly through the Nickle plated aluminum fins. They are attached to the base firmly leaving no gaps and giving the base a smooth flat finish.
Cooling Fans
The 120mm PWM controlled cooling fan is capable of producing 65CFM. It has a a 24.5dBA noise rating. The fan has a speed rating of 1000-1500RPM. The fans connect to the THEMIS Evo using rubber mounts which will keep any rattling noise at its lowest.
The fairly large size of the cooler should provide more surface area for efficient cooling and the cooling fan fully covers one side of the cooler. There’s also an option to install another fan on the opposite side of the THEMIS Evo which will undoubtedly increase its cooling capability. The choice is yours end of the day and if you wish to install the coolers on a “Push” or “Pull” configuration.
Installation
The THEMIS Evo weighs in around 645g making it a faily large and heavy cooler. A typical scenario with all large coolers is the space it invades from the surrounding areas of the motherboard. While compatibility with other components is always a cause for concern the installation process itself was quite straight forward. Raijintek offers detailed instructions with the supplied manual so if the process is new to you, please read through it. Only thing you need to be mindful of is the spacing around the CPU socket. As we mentioned in our previous articles, your best bet would be to have low profile memory modules if the spacing around the CPU socket is limited. Once the cooling fan is installed . Apart from this concern there’s no other issue to bring up with the THEMIS Evo. On to see how well the cooler performs in our tests.
