BT009V Crystal Bluetooth USB adapter and BT 200 Bluetooth Printer adapter
Installation of the unit cannot get any simpler. Just make sure you install the software CD provided before you attach the USB adapter to the PC. This is not a requirement, but that would make things easier. The user manual supplied goes through the basics for getting the device working, however if you need more detailed explanation, refer to the manual in the provided driver CD.
Once the system restarts you’ll see an icon on your desktop as well as on your taskbar which will look like icon below.
The icon on the task bar can be used for quick access to a required function or changing of a configuration. When you go into my Bluetooth places, it’ll display the Bluetooth functions currently available to you.
We had already installed the BT200 Bluetooth printer adapter and as a result it was showing this. This device will be discussed in the next section.
If you want to see the range of services offered by the Crystal USB adapter, simply go into “view my Bluetooth services” and it’ll show you the range of services offered. Since the last time we reviewed the POKE2 Bluetooth USB adapter, there seems to be a few more services that have been added to this lineup. “My Audio Gateway” and “My Headset” are the most noticeable additions.
“My Headset” service will be great for those who have a Bluetooth headset. This service allows the computer to provide audio input/output for remote Bluetooth devices. Say if the remote device is a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, your PC’s microphone and speakers can be used as a speakerphone input and output for the phone. Now that’s absolutely handy for anyone.
The fax service is another handy tool most of you would like to use. Say you have a fax machine that’s connected to a Bluetooth server. Then, if you want to send a fax you needn’t go to the fax machine to send it, rather get the fax machine come to you. Simply double click on the fax icon and perform the required task.
The file transfer feature can be very handy in an office environment. You need two or more Bluetooth enabled PCs to make use of this service. If you wanted to transfer an important file to another colleague of yours, then all you need to do is enable to file transfer service and simply send the file to that person. No more need of using floppies or any such device; it can all be done wirelessly with no effort at all.
