IBM 60GXP 60GB Hard Drive

Well what can I say? How often do you find a Hard drive, which offers value for money and great performance? IBM’s DeskStar 61GXP offers just that. Irrespective of the outstanding report IBM’s DeskStar series has earned over the years as the best IDE drives, frankly I simply cannot find any thing negative to say here. Hands down it’s no doubt the IBM drive is clearly the true winner in all our tests, even though in some instances the margin was quite small.

Currently the DeskStar 60GXP 61GB is offered around $189, which converts to only $3/GB. Essentially two of these DestStar drives would serve as the ideal RAID configuration, without ever having to blow up your bank account. The price of two SCSI drives of this capacity would certainly make your mouth dry, so why trouble your self when there’s a perfect solution. Of course the speeds will certainly not match any SCSI drive, however it sure the next best choice. (Besides it’s much better than being broke for the rest of the month)

IBM’s DeskStar series has earned a very credible status in the hard drive arena today, and the 60GXP drive tested here certainly lives upto that mark. In conclusion I must say there’s hardly any drive out there which could match its price + performance, therefore I have no hesitation in recommending this drive to any body.
