OCZ Micro BGA PC150 128MB SDRAM
As we can see both these RAM modules are extremely good performers. This makes it real tough for all you people out there hunting for good memory. So let me put it this way. If your system is incapable of going past the 133MHz mark, the Mushkin memory will be a good choice since you’ll not notice any performance variations between the two. However for a buyer the main deciding factor is price. Mushkin’s 128MB Rev 3 costs around $112, while the OCZ Micro BGA 128MB PC150 module costs only $ 49. This a special price offered by OCZ so not too sure how long this price will remain. It costs $99.99 usually. Now $49 sure is incredible value for money. When was the last time you saw memory performing so well at these extreme conditions and yet offered at an exceptionally low price? Unless you’re a die-hard Mushkin fan, I don’t see any reason why you should go for anything else.
At this price even if you don’t plan on using the memory’s full potential, I would still recommend it, since you have more to gain and nothing to loose. Opting for PC 150 RAM is more prudent than going for anything lower, if you plan on upgrading your system any time soon.
Remember the more RAM you have smaller the swap file Windows will create, thus resulting in greater performance. OCZ offers the 256MB of the Micro BGA PC 166 at a special price of $109.99. We got to admit, these prices are some of the lowest we have ever come across. Coupled with super value these modules perform splendidly under overclocking conditions. As mentioned before we expected the OCZ Micro BGA PC150 module to work beyond the 180MHz mark. At least I was hopeful that it’ll work around 175MHz. Even reducing the memory settings to CAS 3 did not help. I’m guessing my CPU or some other component fails at this high FSB, and it might not be a memory problem at all. Anyway we’ll be updating the review if we do manage to crank this beyond the 170MHz mark.
