Trendnet is no new comer to the network device industry and they are one of the pioneers in producing GREENnet environmentally friendly networking devices in the world. Trendnet may not be the first company that would come to ones mind when looking for network equipment, however having worked with some of their products I was truly amazed at how reliable and affordable their products are. Few months back we brought to you one of Trendnets’ newly introduced wireless network routers called the TEW-672GR - 300Mbps Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router; and today we bring to you another one of their innovating networking products known as the TPL-302E 200Mbps Powerline AV Fast Ethernet Adapter.

TPL-302E essentially is a device that provides Ethernet connectivity over powerlines. People should not confuse this over the more popular Power Over Ethernet (POE) devices which allows you to power network equipment over Ethernet lines. The TPL-302E we’re reviewing today can be called an Ethernet Over Power device if there’s such a term. Simply put, it provides network connectivity over powerlines.

The above illustration clearly shows what this device is all about. This concept was to be tested in a larger scale by ISP’s to provide internet access to homes through regular powerlines, however we’re yet to see such initiatives breaking ground.
